Martellus Bennett calls out NBA’s best

Cowyboy’s Tight End Martellus Bennett (aka MartyB) was on ESPN First Take this morning and was asked if he thought he could have been a good NBA player. MartyB then stated he could play in the NBA right now. Here is a clip of Martellus Bennett calling out some of the big name players in the NBA

right now:

Martellus Bennett is of the Antonio Gates breed of Tight End. Tall and extremely athletic, and used to play basketball and football (he averaged 23 points and 8.2 rebounds per game as a senior in basketball). At about 6’6” 265lbs, he definitely has the physique to cross over between sports.

Bennett originally committed to Miami (FL) University, but instead chose Texas A&M as his school. He played 3 years for the Aggies and set a school record with 105 receptions, in just 3 years. Impressive since Texas A&M is a more run-oriented offense. He also played basketball for 2 seasons at A&M but his stats there don’t seem to give reason for him to be calling anyone out on the court. He played 26 games in his first season playing basketball and averaged 1.9 points and 1.5 rebounds a game. His second year? A mere .5 points and .5 rebounds…. this before he quit the basketball team.

Stats don’t lie my friends. I’m not saying he’s not a good basketball player, but with those stats I don’t think I’d be challenging the likes of Kobe or Lebron. But then again…..

I have been a fan of Bennett since he was drafted, and seeing him in training camp for the Cowboys on “Hard Knocks” as he fought for a roster spot. This kid has major talent and I urge everyone to keep an eye on MartyB cause you are going to be seeing a lot more of him.

But that’s not all. Gotta try it all right? Marty B TV. Yep, he’s got a few Rap freestyles on his YouTube page.

Not bad…… I suppose. He’s got talent, but I’d have to say most of it is on the field, but I enjoy the fact this guy knows how to have fun, and he’s got a likeable personality, I just wish he was on a better team. Haha. Keep an eye out for this kid.
